Acute Burn and Their After Effects

When anyone suffers from acute burn from thermal, chemical or electrical burn, it’s very necessary to remove the victim from the site. In case of thermal burn immediately pour copious amount of water over the burnt area till the burning sensations are diminished or completely gone away, pouring water has many beneficial effects... it reduces further damage.

In case of electric burns,the victim must be remove from the source of electric current as soon as possible, limb should be kept elevated and come to an emergency department at the earliest, sometimes it needs urgent intervention. In case of chemical burns, the burnt part should be cleaned with copious amount of water and a plastic surgeon should be consulted. In some types of chemical, cleaning with water is not recommended and one should be aware of it.

Post burn deformities and contractures need surgical intervention to restore form and function.
